A house of worship ready to welcome

When members and guests arrive for worship, the building speaks before anyone else does. A swept entry, dusted pews, clear aisles and a fresh restroom tell visitors they are expected and cared for. Our place of worship cleaning keeps every room of your building in that condition, week after week.

Each plan begins with a free walkthrough with your pastor, administrator or facilities volunteer. Together we note the rooms in use, the service and event calendar and any spaces that are handled only by your own people, and we write a task list that respects the purpose of each room.

The sanctuary and worship space

Pews and chairs are dusted and wiped, hymnal racks and book pockets are cleared of bulletins and dust, and kneelers and pew ends are wiped down. Aisles, the narthex and the chancel floor are vacuumed or dust-mopped, and the glass at the main doors is cleaned so the entrance shines for the next gathering.

Altars, sacred vessels, vestments and other holy objects stay in the care of your clergy, altar guild or volunteers. We clean the floors, steps, rails and seating around them, following any instructions your leaders give about where to walk and what to leave in place.

Fellowship hall and kitchen

The fellowship hall hosts coffee hours, potlucks, meetings and receptions, and it often needs the most work after a busy weekend. Tables are wiped, chairs are cleaned and stacked the way you store them, floors are swept and mopped, and trash and recycling are taken out.

Church kitchens get counters, sinks, appliance exteriors and floors cleaned after events, and dishwashing can join the task list after large events. Restrooms throughout the building are cleaned fixture by fixture, with paper and soap restocked from our supplies or yours.

Classrooms, nursery and youth rooms

Sunday school rooms, youth spaces and offices are dusted, wiped and vacuumed, and whiteboards are cleaned when you want them cleared. The nursery gets careful attention: changing tables, cribs and low surfaces are wiped, floors are cleaned and the room is left ready for the next service.

Congregations that host a weekday preschool, a food pantry or community groups can fold those uses into the same plan. Our school and daycare cleaning page explains how we handle early learning rooms during the week.

Timed around services and events

A visit between Saturday evening and Sunday morning, or on a weekday after midweek activities, keeps the building ready for worship. Visits are set around your worship times, rehearsals, prayer meetings and office hours, so cleaning never interrupts a service.

Weddings, funerals, holiday services and large community events get their own turnaround. When a Saturday wedding reception ends late, the hall and restrooms can be reset overnight so Sunday worship starts on time. Periodic work such as carpet extraction through commercial carpet cleaning or hard-floor scrubbing is booked for a quiet weekday.

Oakland’s places of worship

Oakland’s houses of worship range from landmark cathedrals to wood-frame neighborhood churches and storefront ministries.

Some also double as community halls shared by more than one faith group. Wood floors, older carpet, stained glass and narrow stairwells each call for their own care, and the plan is written around the building you worship in. Heritage woodwork is dusted by hand with soft cloths, and older stained glass is cleaned only on the inside surfaces your trustees approve.

What church cleaning costs in Oakland

Places of worship are cleaned less often than offices, so monthly totals stay modest. Weekly cleaning for an Oakland church typically runs $0.11 to $0.24 a square foot a month as of 2026, from about $0.08 for a simple sanctuary and hall to $0.33 for buildings with a busy kitchen, weekday school use and many restrooms, based on published market rates for religious buildings.

Example: a 9,000-square-foot church with a sanctuary, fellowship hall and classroom wing, cleaned once a week at $0.14 a square foot, comes to about $1,260 a month. The number of weekly services, event cleanups, kitchen use, restroom count, floor types and weekday programs set your price. A walkthrough of the building comes first, followed by a written quote.

A few useful answers

Common questions.

Can you reset the hall between a Saturday wedding and Sunday worship?

Yes. An overnight visit after the reception clears the hall, kitchen and restrooms, and your doors open Sunday to a fresh building.

Who cleans the altar and sacred items?

Your clergy, altar guild or volunteers keep that role. We care for the floors, seating, rails and surfaces around them and follow your leaders’ instructions.

Can cleaning stay clear of prayer times and rehearsals?

Yes. Visits are scheduled into the open hours on your calendar, so worship, choir practice and prayer meetings are never interrupted.

Do you clean up after potlucks and receptions?

Yes. Tables, chairs, kitchen counters, floors and restrooms are cleaned after events, and the hall is set back the way you store it.

Can our weekday preschool be included?

Yes. Preschool rooms can join the same plan, with their own task list and a weekday evening visit after the children go home.
